Hyundai Motor India Ltd., the country’s largest exporter and the second largest car manufacturer today introduced the new model of its flagship brand Santro. The new Santro has been designed with luxurious interiors and improved exterior features to further enhance its appeal to the customers.

The original ‘Tall Boy’ Santro has been continuously improved to meet the changing customer needs and has kept itself abreast of the latest technology and design. While the new Santro continues to be powered by the trusted 1.1 eRLX Epsilon engine that develops a whopping 63PS@5500rpm as maximum power and 9.8 kgm@3000rpm as maximum torque and has a proven fuel-economy, durability and power-efficiency.

The new Santro has many added features to considerably raise the bar for cars in this segment. On the exterior the new Santro will be distinguished by a body coloured Radiator Grille and Full Wheel Cover and the rear gets decidedly more sporty with the addition of a Rear Spoiler which further highlights the new look Santro.

Toyota Fortuner successful in India

Toyota recently launched their sports utility vehicle model Fortuner in the Indian market.

This model is a mega hit in India as the company received more than 7,000 bookings in the 30 day period since launch.

Toyota Fortuner competes in a market which has very competitive rivals including Honda CR-V, Ford Endeavour, Mitsubishi Pajero and Chevrolet Captiva.

The sales of these models are falling as customers are flocking to Toyota showrooms to order Fortuner.

Skoda Yeti To Be Assembled At Aurangabad Facility By 2010

The first Skoda Yeti SUV revealed from its assembly line from its mother plant in Kvasiny in the Czech Republic, is also to be unveiled for the Indian market. Skoda yeti will assemble its Yeti SUV model from its Aurangabad plant placed at Maharashtra with its CKD kits expected to be imported from its parent company.

Skoda Yeti is set to launch this year in September in Europe and it will also reveal at the 2010 Delhi Auto Expo. The company will equip Yeti with a 1.8L TSI petrol engine for its Czech republic (home market) with a 4WD model and the engine will be tweaked in order to cater to the needs of the domestic customers.

Skoda plans to launch its small SUV, the Skoda Yeti, in India in early 2010. It will launch the Skoda Yeti at the 2010 Geneva Auto Expo.
The Skoda Yeti will be priced at Rs 10 lakhs. There is a good chance that in India, the crossover vehicle will be launched at the 2010 Auto Expo.

The Skoda Yeti will close the gap between the Skoda Fabia and the Skoda Octavia, in Skoda’s portfolio in India.

The Skoda Yeti is not really an SUV- a crossover vehicle is more like it; something between a car and an SUV. The Yeti, smarter-looking and less bulky than the usual SUVs, will serve for both urban driving as well as weekend driving. Despite being a two-wheel drive vehicle, its long suspension and high ground clearance makes the Skoda Yeti competent enough for slightly rougher tracks.

The Skoda Yeti borrows features from the Skoda Roomster and the VW’s Golf-based Tiguan SUV. The Skoda Yeti is said to have the transmission and brakes of the roomster, and the suspension of the Skoda Fabia.

The SUV has a wrapped around windscreen, retro white roof, and roof rails that carry on till the rear of the Skoda Yeti.

The compact SUV has squared-off lines and, in the front, the recessed fog lights are placed higher.

The interiors are comfortable, and the instruments neatly placed on the dashboard. The Skoda Yeti comes with a cleverly placed bike carrier. The bike carrier can be opened by raising the tailgate’s glass window that hinges at the top, and the bottom part can be lowered in a horizontal position. The number plate flips down while metal struts come up below the bottom part of the tailgate to support the bike carrier, when a button is pressed.

Skoda plans to launch petrol and diesel models of the Skoda Yeti, with 1.6L to 2.0L petrol engines and a 1.9-litre turbodiesel engine.

The Skoda Yeti will be put together using kits shipped from Skoda’s Kvasiny plant in the Czech Republic.

Skoda Yeti will compete against soon-to-be-launched Tata IndiCruz and Tata Safari, Mahindra Scorpio. The car will be imported as CKD and will be assembled at company’s Aurangabad plant.

India’s car market has lacked a small SUV for a long time, and the Yeti may fill that gap. However, the price of Rs 10 lakh might be a deterrent for any huge sales.

Skoda hopes to expand its reach in India, and aims to take its dealerships from 56 to 65, by the end of 2009, in Kanpur, Delhi, Jaipur, Gandhidham, Tiruchi, Bangalore, Salem and Kottayam.

2010 Hyundai Sonata looks stunning

The new 2010 Hyundai Sonata . The all-new Sonata is 4,820mm long, 1,835mm wide and 1,470mm tall with a wheelbase of 2,795mm making it a little longer and wider but slightly lower than the outgoing model.

The 2010 Hyundai Sonata, which may be sold as i40 in Europe, will be offered with a 2.0-liter Theta II MPi engine with 165HP and an LPG version that makes 144HP. Both engines are paired to a new six-speed automatic transmission.

Hyundai plans to add 2.4 liter Theta II GDI unit to the range in January. This engine will be offered as standard on the U.S. market model.

The company plans to sell 60,000 units of the new Sonata in Korea this year. With the addition of production in its U.S. plant in Alabama plant in early 2010 and in China the following year, Hyundai expects that number to raise to 450,000 units annually worldwide from 2011.

In Korea, the 2010 Sonata’s prices range from US$17,600 to US$21,450.

Bentley Continental GT Bullet Matt finish color

Russian Tuning House TopCar has taken on the new Bentley Continental GT and the GT Speed Coupe, for a new tuning package. Known as Bentley Continental GT Bullet, the new monster got no power upgrades (TopCar didn’t touch the engine) meaning there are actually no performance upgrades. However, on the outside, the changes include a new front-end with a new bumper, a grille (GT specific) and an all new hood with air intakes. The front spoiler has been built-in and so are the LED lights. As far as the sides are concerned, the skirts leading into the wheel wells are distinguishable and they compliment the new rear bumper. The entire kit with alloy wheels costs €25,000 (with €7,000 for the matte paintjob), which is pretty steep, but we’re sure money’s not a problem in Russia. Eh?

Lamborghini Estoque Concept

The Lamborghini Estoque a four-door concept — which was first spotted at last years Paris Motor Show — was a dumped project because of the credit crunch. However,this March, Lamborghini have confirmed that the four-door concept wasn’t axed but only yet to be decided when it will be produced. Adding to the confusion mill, a new Lamborghini Estoque Concept has been spotted in Germany without license plates. As per the company officials, the four-door would fit in well with their current product line-up, meaning that there is still hope we might see this beauty on the streets. We’d definitely like to get behind the wheel on that elegant beast!
